Abstract
We report on measurements of the instantaneous Kerr nonlinearity and the retarded alignment of non-polar molecules CO2, N-2, and O-2 by an intense, lambda-cubic terahertz pulse with peak field > 33 MV/cm centered at 3.9 THz.
