Abstract

By focusing on OMA's Mangalem 21, a housing project in Tirana, this article tackles the modern transformatiosn of Albanian capital in the last decade. Since 2013 administrators called celebrity architects to design landmark buildings for urban speculation purposes. Soon, the trend was also followed by private developers, calling architectural firms like OMA for housing projects. A crucial vector for these investments had of course been the structural system of low wages, the lack of labor unions, and a boom of call center workers and service/care workers.
